Airbus has agreed to acquire Spirit AeroSystems’ Casablanca site as part of a $439 million deal covering several Spirit facilities across Europe and North America, according to a report in Moroccan World News. The Moroccan plant, spanning 25,000 square metres and employing 800 workers, produces key components for Airbus’s A220 and A321 aircraft, including wing structures and ventral beams.
Originally part of Bombardier’s operations, the site transitioned to Spirit AeroSystems in 2019. Airbus said the acquisition will secure critical supply chains amid rising production demands for its most popular jets. Once integrated, the Casablanca facility will be renamed Airbus Atlantic Maroc Aero, aligning with other Airbus Atlantic sites.
The deal, expected to close by the third quarter of 2025 pending regulatory approval, reinforces Airbus’s global manufacturing network and highlights North Africa’s growing role in aerospace supply chains. It also reflects Airbus’s move to secure control over key supply chains and protect aircraft production as global aviation demand rises.
