Russia struggles to establish naval bases in two African countries after Syrian withdrawal
In the days after the fall of the Russian-backed Assad regime in Syria, Moscow withdrew its naval force from the
Algeria's National Authority for the Protection of Personal Data (ANPDP) and Mauritania's data protection authority signed a partnership agreement to boost cooperation through sharing expertise. ANPDP President Samir Bourehil said the deal establishes a framework for key decisions on personal data protection. The partnership aims to enhance cybersecurity in both countries as they prioritize digital transformation in economic development. The agreement comes amid rapid digital commerce growth, with data increasingly crossing borders, according to the World Bank.
