Algeria has opted not to join the BRICS group, citing the political positions and membership criteria of the bloc, according to a decision by Algerian authorities. BRICS, founded in 2006, is an economic and political alliance comprising Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa. Starting January 1, 2024, the group will expand to include Egypt, Iran, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, and Ethiopia.
