Lawmakers from both chambers of the North African nation’s parliament on Monday condemned the European governing body for a resolution criticizing the arrest of French Algerian writer Boualem Sansal. Sansal, an outspoken critic of the Algerian regime was arrested last November. It comes at a time when tensions between Algeria and France have escalated considerably. Algerian lawmakers accused the European Parliament of political inference and “harming the image of Algeria.”
