Mauritanian media raised alarms over an incident last Friday involving an Algerian military patrol's unauthorized entry into Mauritania. Reports from Anbaa Info detailed the patrol crossing eight kilometers into Mauritanian territory without prior warning or coordination. Algerian forces cited difficulty distinguishing between gold prospectors and terrorists, compounded by poor communication networks, as reasons for the incursion. Mauritanian authorities have yet to respond to this breach, which has heightened tensions between the neighboring countries.
