Algeria set to impose stringent sentences on financial speculation

Algeria’s Justice Minister Lofti Boudjemaa has stated that prison sentences for financial speculation and market manipulation will now range from 30 years to life imprisonment, according to local media. Speaking to members of the National People’s Assembly, Boudjemaa said “the justice system will use all available legal tools to protect the national economy,” adding that “anyone involved in speculating on the livelihoods of Algerians will be dealt with firmly.”
