According to a report by Amnesty opposition politicians in Tunisia: Jaouhar Ben Mbarek, Khayyam Turki, Issam Chebbi, Ghazi Chaouachi, Ridha Belhaj and Abdelhamid Jelassi, have been detained since February 2023 on what it calls “unfounded” ‘conspiracy against state security’ charges. Earlier this year a judge rejected the latest appeals against the prolonged pre-trial detention of the six detainees. Tunisia is currently under a state of emergency.
