BP, Mauritania report gas leak at offshore West African gas project

A gas leak at the Greater Tortue Ahmeyim gas project, operated by BP offshore Senegal and Mauritania, has been detected, according to the British company and Mauritania's environment ministry. BP stated the environmental impact would be negligible and production would continue uninterrupted. The leak was discovered during a commissioning test revealing "low-rate subsea gas bubbles," with plans in place to address the issue. Mauritanian authorities are conducting investigations to prevent any environmental damage, in collaboration with Senegalese officials.
