British companies are free to do business in Morocco’s Western Sahara, says UK

The UK government is allowing businesses to independently choose whether to trade or invest in Morocco’s southern provinces in Western Sahara, said Douglas Alexander, Minister of State for Trade Policy. Responding to SNP MP Graham Leadbitter, Alexander differentiated the UK’s stance, noting Israeli settlements in Palestine as illegal, while suggesting no such restriction in Western Sahara. The UK continues backing UN efforts for a fair and lasting resolution in the region.
