Burkina Faso's junta government announced Thursday the release of four French nationals, previously detained on espionage charges since December 2023. The move came after successful negotiations mediated by Morocco, aiding in mending the strained ties between France and Burkina Faso. French Defense Minister Sebastien Lecornu confirmed on X that the released individuals were members of the French armed forces. Capt. Ibrahim Traore, Burkina Faso’s leader, expressed gratitude for Morocco's diplomatic efforts.
