Negotiators from Egypt, Qatar, the United States, and Israel finalized arrangements in Cairo on Friday to implement a Gaza ceasefire scheduled for Sunday, according to AFP citing Egyptian state-linked media. Talks concluded positively, with plans to establish a joint operations room in Cairo to oversee coordination and compliance, including representatives from all parties involved.

The ceasefire, already approved by Israel’s security cabinet, aims to end the conflict in Gaza. It also includes the release of hostages held by Hamas since its October 7 attack on Israel.

Humanitarian concerns remain urgent, with aid trucks waiting at the Egyptian border as calls intensify for swift and safe delivery to civilians in Gaza. While U.S. President Joe Biden emphasized the importance of humanitarian assistance, Israeli airstrikes continued, reportedly killing over 100 people since the deal was announced. The truce is designed to address these mounting concerns.
