China, Egypt pledge joint efforts to promote Middle East peace

China and Egypt agreed to promote peace and negotiations for Middle East stability, including in Syria, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said after meeting Egyptian counterpart Badr Abdelatty in Beijing. Both expressed concern over Syria, emphasizing respect for its sovereignty and territorial integrity. Abdelatty highlighted the need for a comprehensive political process, inclusive of Syria's diverse sectarian, religious, and ethnic makeup, to manage a transitional phase and ensure long-term stability, according to reports.
