The ‘Fez Action Plan’ and why it still resonates

Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty met with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov Friday, during the 15th Sir Bani Yas Forum in the UAE, according to an Egyptian Foreign Ministry statement cited by Egyptian media. The meeting underlined the growing collaboration between Egypt and Russia in diplomatic and economic fields.
The ministers emphasized the importance of accelerating joint coordination, especially following President Abdel Fattah El Sisi’s participation in the recent BRICS Summit in Kazan. They also reviewed progress on several bilateral economic projects aimed at enhancing mutual development and trade.
Turning to regional issues, Abdelatty and Lavrov exchanged views on the ongoing Israeli aggression in Gaza and Lebanon. Both leaders underscored the urgent need for an immediate ceasefire to halt the violence. They called for unconditional access to humanitarian aid for those affected by the conflict, highlighting the critical importance of alleviating the humanitarian crisis and pursuing peaceful solutions.
