Niger conference displays solidarity with Sahel states
Delegates completed a conference in Niamey this week, intended to show solidarity with the Alliance of Sahel States (ASS). The
Egypt condemned the Knesset's approval of two bills that limit the work of the UNRWA describing the move as one in a series of Israeli violations of international law and humanitarian international law. Egypt urged the U.N. Security Council, to take a firm stance on "those crimes, and blunt and systematic Israeli violations," denouncing that Israel does not merely commit crimes against civilians but also targets all efforts that would alleviate their suffering. Without coordination with Israel, it will be almost impossible for UNRWA to work in Gaza or the West Bank, since Jerusalem would no longer be issuing entrance permits to those territories or allowing coordination with the IDF. Israel also currently controls access to Gaza from Egypt, with Israeli forces deployed along the border between them.
