Sudan's war displaces 14M as cholera outbreak kills hundreds
Sudan is facing one of the world’s most severe humanitarian crisis as the conflict between the Sudanese Armed Forces
Egypt has denied claims by Sudanese paramilitary leader Mohamed Hamdan Daglo that its military is involved in Sudan's ongoing conflict, AFP reports. Daglo, leader of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), has been fighting Sudan's army, led by General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, since April 2023. The war has killed tens of thousands and created a massive displacement crisis.
In a video posted Wednesday, Daglo accused Egypt’s air force of conducting strikes against his forces near Jebel Moya, south of Khartoum, and alleged interference from other nations, including Iran. Egypt’s foreign ministry swiftly rejected the claims, denying any involvement in Sudan’s internal conflict.
While Egypt has close ties with Burhan, analysts warn the war in Sudan has drawn in various external actors, including alleged UAE support for the RSF. Both the RSF and Sudan’s army have faced accusations of war crimes, including atrocities against civilians.
