Egypt proposed a hostage deal to Hamas offering an extended ceasefire and the release of hostages in the “humanitarian” category, an Israeli official told The Times of Israel on Thursday. Mediators are intensifying efforts to end the 14-month war.

The official clarified that the proposal was not an Israeli offer, as reported by Axios, but a Cairo-led initiative. Israel is open to discussing the proposal, the official added.
