A number of Egyptians have been freed after being held for 19 months by Sudan's paramilitary Rapid Support Forces, arrived back in Egypt this week following a coordinated operation involving Egyptian and Sudanese authorities. The conflict between the Sudanese army and the RSF has been ongoing since April 2023, and according to UN reports, has resulted in more than 20,000 deaths and approximately 15 million displaced persons.
