Egyptians protest at Rafah border Trump's Gaza displacement plan
Demonstrators gather outside the Egyptian side of the Rafah border crossing with the Gaza Strip on January 31, 2025 to protest against a plan floated by US President Donald Trump to move Palestinians from the Gaza Strip to Egypt and Jordan

Thousands protested at the Rafah border crossing on Friday in a rare state-sanctioned demonstration against U.S. President Donald Trump's proposal for Egypt and Jordan to accept Gazan refugees, an eyewitness told Reuters. Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi had earlier rejected the idea, vowing Egyptians would oppose it. Protesters chanted "Long Live Egypt" and waved Egyptian and Palestinian flags, voicing strong disapproval of the displacement plan. The rally highlighted regional tensions over the controversial suggestion.
