AMEA Power, a Dubai-based firm, has secured approval from Egypt's government to increase the scope of its renewable energy projects by summer 2025, according to reports in Egyptian media.
Central to AMEA Power’s investment in Egypt is the Abydos Solar Energy project, where AMEA plans to double capacity to 1,000 megawatts. Additionally, the company will build 1,500 megawatts of combined solar and wind capacity, including a battery storage system to bolster energy reliability.
A substantial component of this new capacity will be the 500-megawatt Amount Wind Energy Project. Overall, AMEA Power’s projects will contribute 2,000 megawatts to Egypt's renewable energy grid, significantly advancing the country's ambitious sustainable energy goals.
This development follows a July meeting between Egypt's Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly and UAE’s Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology, Sultan Al Jaber, focusing on enhancing bilateral cooperation in renewable energy and localizing related industries.
