Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed inaugurated the nation's first stock exchange in five decades on Friday, signaling a major step in economic liberalization. The ceremony, featuring a Wall Street-style bell ringing, marked the listing of Ethio Telecom as the exchange's first company. Abiy, aiming for a future with 90 listed firms and four million investors, encouraged Ethiopians to embrace risk.  Ethiopia has not had any form of stock exchange in 50 years, since the 1974 fall of Emperor Haile Selassie.
