The European Commission is refusing to publish the findings of a human rights inquiry into Tunisia, conducted before a controversial migration deal with the North African country. An EU ombudsman investigation revealed the commission quietly conducted a "risk management exercise" over human rights concerns but won't disclose the results. Despite calls for transparency, Brussels maintains no human rights assessment was needed for the deal, which has since faced multiple abuse allegations. Concerns grow over the commission’s refusal to release its findings.
