Trade between Morocco and the European Union soared to a record-breaking $65 billion in 2024, according to an announcement from
French President Emmanuel Macron expressed concern on Friday over the health and "arbitrary detention" of French-Algerian author Boualem Sansal in Algeria during a speech in Porto, Portugal. He highlighted the detention as a critical issue impacting Franco-Algerian relations and emphasized the need for resolution to restore full confidence between the nations. Macron also addressed the French government's review of immigration agreements with Algeria, prompted by Algeria's refusal to accept deported Algerians.
