GITEX Africa 2025 opened in Marrakech Monday with a show of pan-African ambition and international backing for the continent’s digital future. On the first day of the continent’s largest tech conference, government officials, business leaders, and cybersecurity experts addressed the importance of infrastructure, innovation, and public-private collaboration in accelerating Africa’s tech transformation.
Morocco’s Minister of Digital Transition, Amal El Fallah Seghrouchni, outlined the country’s digital strategy, while the UAE’s Mohamed Al Kuwaiti stressed the need for cross-continental cyber resilience. Trixie LohMirmand, CEO of KAOUN International, laid out how Africa can bee seen as rising global tech player.
The three day event includes panels on digital sovereignty, AI, and fintech, along with the Supernova Startups Challenge and training in cybersecurity and generative AI. With delegates from across the globe and exhibitors showcasing regional innovations, the conference aims to reinforce Africa’s growing role in shaping the digital economy.
