Hamas meets with rival Fatah in Cairo to discuss Gaza war

Hamas announced Wednesday that it had begun talks with rival faction Fatah in Cairo, focusing on the ongoing conflict in Gaza and efforts to achieve national unity. "A meeting has commenced in Cairo between the Hamas and Fatah delegations," the statement read, addressing "aggression on the Gaza Strip and political developments." The two factions, long-time rivals, fought a brief but violent conflict in 2007, resulting in Hamas taking control of Gaza.
