Hundreds of candidates face criminal charges in Libya’s municipal elections

According to reporting by the Libya Observer, some 228 candidates in the second round of municipal elections are facing criminal charges. Libya’s attorney general has revealed that the prosecution’s database identified a range of cases including five murders, 16 related to abuse of power, and eight linked to public fund misappropriation. The Libya Observer reports that some candidates have already been convicted, while others are still under investigation.
