In Washington DC, during this week’s confirmation hearing for the position of US Secretary of State, Republican Senator Marco Rubio highlighted Morocco’s role as a key partner in addressing issues such as counterterrorism and providing opportunities for economic development as well as engagement across Africa. In the five-hour hearing Rubio stressed the following: “I also think, to the north, of Morocco, where we are seeing substantial advances, thanks to the Agreements [Abraham Accords], but also thanks to a relationship that continues to build,” he said.
