An Iranian delegation is visiting Algeria and Tunisia this week as Tehran looks to deepen ties across North Africa. Iran’s delegation, which has just wrapped up a three-day visit to Algeria and is set to arrive in Tunisia on Thursday, is led by Ebrahim Azizi, head of the Iranian Parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Committee and former member and spokesperson of Iran’s powerful Guardian Council. The visits to Algeria and Tunisia come just as Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi held meetings on Tuesday with his Tunisian and Algerian counterparts, Nabil Ammar and Ahmed Attaf, respectively, on the sidelines of the 10th Global Forum of the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations in Lisbon, Portugal.
