Survivors said there were 28 people on the boat and each paid between 500 and 1,000 euros to cross and no one was wearing a life jacket. The Italian Coast Guard rescued 7 people about 20 kilometers southwest of the island of Lampedusa and the seven men were found clinging to the upturned boat 3 days later.
