Funding crisis forces UNHCR to halt refugee aid in Egypt

US oil and gas company Kosmos Energy has initiated liquified natural gas (LNG) production at the Greater Tortue Ahmeyim project off Senegal and Mauritania, the company announced on its website. The project, which began gas exploitation on December 31, 2024, is expected to yield about 2.5 million tonnes of LNG annually. Production involves liquefying gas on a floating vessel in the Atlantic Ocean, with an LNG carrier scheduled to start exporting later this quarter.
