Morocco tops the Maghreb in 2024 sustainable competitiveness ranking

Libyan Prime Minister Abdel Hamid Aldabaiba inaugurated the first Conference of Military Intelligence Chiefs of Libya’s Neighboring Countries in Tripoli, with officials from Tunisia, Algeria, Sudan, Chad, and Niger attending, the Libya Herald reports. Notably absent was Egypt, which shares a long border with the eastern section of Libya under Khalifa Hafter’s control.
Libyan representatives included Defence Undersecretary Abdul Salam Al-Zubi, Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Mohammed Al-Haddad, and several military leaders. Major General Mahmoud Hamza, head of Libyan Military Intelligence, emphasized the need for regional cooperation to address shared security challenges such as terrorism, border control, and smuggling.
Participating delegations expressed support for enhanced collaboration to tackle threats affecting regional stability. Aldabaiba highlighted Libya’s commitment to internal and regional security, rejecting its territory as a battleground for international conflicts. Discussions focused on mechanisms to bolster intelligence coordination and future partnerships, marking a crucial step toward strengthening regional security amid escalating challenges.
