Libyan security crackdown forces aid groups to suspend operations, diplomats say

Diplomats in Libya have accused the Internal Security Agency (ISA) of forcing international NGOs to halt operations, AFP reported Wednesday. In a letter from 17 European ambassadors and a UN official, they detailed an ISA-led crackdown involving threats, forced resignations, and the questioning of at least 18 NGO workers between March 13 and 27. Some workers were compelled to relinquish their passports and pledge never to work for NGOs again. Several offices were also sealed.
