Libya's eastern parliament passes transitional justice law, aiming to strengthen national unity
Delegates attend a national reconciliation forum organised by the Justice and National Reconciliation Committee in divided Libya's eastern-based Parliament in Benghazi on November 17, 2024.

Libya's eastern-based parliament has approved a national reconciliation and transitional justice law aimed at healing divisions from a decade of conflict, said House of Representatives spokesman Abdullah Belaihaq. Passed in Benghazi, the law seeks to unify the oil-rich nation split into rival east and west governments since a 2014 civil war. Implementation remains uncertain due to the ongoing political fragmentation since Muammar Gaddafi's 2011 ouster.
