Morocco ranks low in female workforce participation among African nations
A new report from the African Center for Economic Transformation reveals that Morocco lags behind many African countries in workplace
Libya's Interior Minister Emad Al-Trabelsi has warned that the country is struggling with an estimated 4 million illegal migrants, calling it a severe security and economic challenge, the Libya Observer reports. Speaking at a meeting with EU and African Union diplomats, as well as UN agencies, he insisted that Libya will not bear the burden alone nor become a resettlement zone.
Al-Trabelsi urged European nations to shift their focus from coastal patrols to securing Libya’s porous southern borders, which he called the true entry point for illegal migration. He demanded tangible support, including advanced monitoring technology and faster deportation processes in coordination with international organizations.
The meeting, attended by representatives from the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the UNHCR, comes as Libya remains a key transit hub for migrants attempting to cross the Mediterranean. Al-Trabelsi warned that uncontrolled migration threatens regional stability and requires urgent international cooperation.
