Egypt’s military chief meets with Turkish counterpart to discuss bilateral ties
Egypt’s Chief of Military Staff, Lieutenant General Ahmed Khalifa, met Thursday with Turkish General Metin Gürak in Cairo, to
President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi and his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron warned in a phone call on Monday against the potential of growing regional instability amid recent escalations in the Middle East. In a statement from Egyptian Presidential Spokesperson Ahmed Fahmy both presidents agreed on the imperative to de-escalate tensions on all levels and the need to exercise wisdom and utmost restraint in the region. They also highlighted the latest efforts regarding the Gaza situation for reaching an immediate and permanent ceasefire, exchanging detainees, and ensuring the delivery of humanitarian aid.
