Manchester United defender Noussair Mazraoui has undergone a heart procedure after experiencing palpitations but is expected to return to action within a few weeks, Reuters reports citing club sources. The 26-year-old had to withdraw from the Morocco squad ahead of their Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against the Central African Republic, scheduled for Saturday and Tuesday.

Mazraoui has been a key player for Manchester United this season, starting all seven Premier League matches and nine of the ten games he’s been available for since joining from Bayern Munich in August. He was substituted at halftime during United’s recent 0-0 draw with Aston Villa, which raised concerns about his health.

His absence adds to United’s defensive woes, with Harry Maguire, Luke Shaw, and Tyrell Malacia already sidelined due to injuries. Despite this setback, the club is hopeful that Mazraoui will recover swiftly and rejoin the squad soon.
