Mauritanians exhume Christian corpse in sectarian protest

Mauritanian authorities allowed a protest against Christians in Sélibaby last week, where demonstrators exhumed a Christian’s body and dragged it through the streets, rights group Middle East Concern (MEC) said. The April 7 rally, followed by online calls to burn Christian homes, left the minority fearful. An Islamist mob desecrated the grave before reburying the remains elsewhere. Local security chiefs were later fired. MEC warned tensions remain high amid ongoing anti-Christian rhetoric.
