Media report: Kamikaze drones from Ukraine are being used by Mali rebels

Malian experts say fragments of drones shot down in Mali are linked to military companies from the U.S. and Ukraine, according to report on Afrique Media TV cited by South American news platform Telesur. The experts claim that kamikaze drones, assembled in Ukraine from U.S. components, are being used by Ukrainian special forces in Mali.

The claim comes after the military governments of Mali and Niger condemned Ukraine, accusing it of supporting terrorism and being involved in the deaths of over one hundred Malian soldiers and Russian Wagner group fighters in a rebel attack on Tinzaoutene in July.

Meanwhile, UN Under-Secretary for Counter-Terrorism Vladimir Voronkov warned the UN Security Council that the Islamic State and other affiliated terrorist groups are expanding their operations in West Africa, the Sahel, Mozambique, Somalia, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
