Libyan authorities discovered two mass graves in Kufra, southeastern Libya, containing nearly 50 bodies of sub-Saharan migrants, the Associated Press reports citing officials. One grave, found on a farm, held 19 bodies, while another at a human trafficking center contained at least 30. The migrants had been shot before being buried. Authorities freed 76 migrants from the trafficking site and arrested three people on suspicion of detaining and torturing migrants. Libya remains a key transit hub where migrants face brutal exploitation amid the countries political instability.
