Young Libyans gear up for their first ever election
Young Libyans have mobilized for Saturday's municipal elections, the first time many will vote in the fractured North
Arab football clubs took in $220 million from player contract sales between 2019 and 2023, according to the "Mercato Asharq 2023" report by Asharq Business and Bloomberg. Moroccan clubs emerged as standout performers in the player transfer market, generating approximately $32 million in profits between 2019 and 2023. Despite a small dip to $7.6 million in 2023, Morocco maintained its consistency in player sales, outshining other Arab countries. The report showed that Tunisian, Algerian, Iraqi, and Jordanian clubs also realized profits from player contracts during this period, while Egyptian clubs made profits only in 2022 and 2023.Nevertheless, Egypt topped the revenue list with $51.5 million over the five-year period, constituting almost a quarter of total Arab club earnings from international player transfers.
In 2023, Saudi clubs came top in revenue earning $17 million. Saudi Arabia’s growing presence in the international transfer market is underlined by its net spending of $1.22 billion from 2019 to 2023, of which $953 million was spent last year alone.
