Moroccan officials, U.S. Senators discuss regional security, defense cooperation

A delegation of United States senators, led by Senator Jerry Moran, met on Monday with Moroccan defense officials in Rabat to discuss strengthening the ongoing cooperation between the two countries. Morrocco’s Defense Minister Loudyi praised the military cooperation including the “African Lion” exercise and the implementation of the Roadmap for Defense Cooperation, signed in October 2020. The roadmap sets out the main areas of cooperation for the period 2020-2030. The Senators expressed the importance of the long-standing cooperation between the United States and Morocco, highlighting the bilateral Defense Consultative Committee and the exchange of visits by senior officials of the two countries. They also praised the critical role of the Kingdom, King Mohammed VI leadership, to help preserve peace and stability in Africa, the Mediterranean, and the Middle East.
