Moroccan rights group warns of increased migration risks during summer

According to Morocco’s Northern Observatory for Human Rights (ONDH) the summer months and in particular holiday periods such as Eid al-Adla offer a rise in dangerous migration attempts. Head of the Observatory, Mohamed Benaissa, warned that it is mostly during these festive periods that migrants attempt the hazardous swimming crossings to reach the Spanish enclaves of Ceuta and Melilla. The Observatory has documented an increase in crossing attempts in recent months, with a daily average of 120, 20% higher compared to January and February.
