Moroccan security experts arrive in Paris to help French authorities secure Olympic games
Frederic Veaux, Head of French National Police, and Abdellatif Hammouchi, Morocco’s Director General of National Security and Territorial Surveillance

Moroccan security experts have arrived in Paris this week to help French authorities secure the Olympic games, according to Moroccan media. Abdellatif Hammouchi, Morocco’s Director General of National Security and Territorial Surveillance led the Moroccan contingent which includes explosives and communication specialists as well as officers to secure the sites and stadiums holding Olympic events. France is currently under one of the most heightened levels of security.

The kingdom’s security chief visited French capital last month to solidify closer security cooperation between the two countries ahead of the Paris Olympics. Hammouchi met with Frederic Veaux, Director General of the French National Police, to enhance risk assessment and data sharing strategies. The 2024 Global Terrorism index was released this last week and despite Morocco, ranking 89th, compared with France in 38th place, France has still called upon the security expertise of Morocco.

In recognition of his contributions to improving Franco-Moroccan security cooperation, Hammouchi received the Gold Medal of Honour from the French National Police. Hammouchi and Veaux also discussed ways to combat additional illicit activities, including drug trafficking, illegal migration, and human trafficking between the two nations
