Moroccan Unions announce first general strike in nearly a decade
Supporters of the Moroccan National Labour Union

In Morocco, major unions announced a general strike for February 5 and 6, marking the first such action since 2016. This decision follows the Moroccan Labour Union and other groups' withdrawal from a parliamentary session intended to pass new strike legislation. Union leaders, condemning the government's refusal to negotiate, criticize policies they view as detrimental to workers' rights, including proposed increases in retirement age and changes affecting the right to strike and workers’ purchasing power.
