Morocco and Mauritania have reinforced their fisheries partnership with three agreements signed during the seventh edition of the "Halieutis" International Fisheries Exhibition in Agadir. The deals focus on health and veterinary monitoring, joint marine research for 2025-2026, and enhancing maritime training programs. With Morocco ranked Africa’s 13th-largest fish producer, and Mauritania possessing a vast Atlantic coastline of over 700km, the agreements aim to boost sustainability, research, and industry training.

Beyond fisheries, the two nations are expanding cooperation in energy. They recently signed an electricity interconnection agreement under Morocco’s Atlantic Royal Initiative, which seeks to enhance regional energy integration. Officials highlight the project’s role in improving grid reliability and fostering broader energy exchange between Africa and Europe.

These agreements reflect Morocco and Mauritania’s deepening economic ties across key sectors, reinforcing their commitment to regional development, food security, and sustainable resource management.
