Morocco and Gambia signed a new cooperation agreement in Rabat on Tuesday that seeks to protect and enhance the rights of women, children, and vulnerable populations including seniors and people with disabilities.

According to Morocco World News, the agreement requires both countries to collaborate on creating training initiatives in the social action sector and sharing best practices.

Morocco's Minister of Solidarity, Social Integration, and Family emphasized that economic opportunities for women was a key topic of discussion.

Gambia's Minister of Women's Affairs, Children, and Social Welfare expressed her country’s desire to learnfrom Morocco’s experience in promoting women’s and children’s rights.

While women in Morocco continue to face discrimination, particularly regarding inheritance laws and child marriage, significant progress has been made in their role in government and business. The Friedrich Naumann Foundation, which promotes individual freedom, says compared to its neighbors, Morocco is one of the countries with the most progressive legal systems for women.

The new agreement is part of a broader effort to enhance collaboration between Morocco and Gambia on various issues.
