Trade between Morocco and the European Union soared to a record-breaking $65 billion in 2024, according to an announcement from the EU Delegation to Morocco, as reported by Morocco World News.

The European Union remains Morocco’s leading trade partner, receiving nearly two-thirds of the Kingdom’s exports and supplying about half of its imports. In addition, Europe continues to be the primary source of foreign direct investment in Morocco, accounting for approximately 50% of total inflows.

Vehicles and transport-related goods led Morocco’s exports to the EU in 2024, comprising roughly 28% of the total. Other key exports included machinery, appliances, clothing and textiles.

Morocco has also emerged as the EU’s largest supplier of vegetables, with tomatoes making up a significant portion of those exports.

This trade growth builds on the 2012 agricultural agreement between the EU and Morocco, which liberalized trade in agricultural and fisheries products. The agreement facilitated greater access for Moroccan goods—especially tomatoes, citrus fruits, and early vegetables—by reducing tariffs and simplifying regulations.

In return, European agricultural exports have benefited from improved access to Moroccan markets.

On the import side, Morocco’s top purchases from the EU in 2024 included machinery and appliances, followed by transport equipment, mineral products, and base metals. The EU also remained a major supplier of medical and pharmaceutical goods to the Kingdom.
