Morocco has reportedly extended its control to encompass 15-20% of Western Sahara’s airspace, previously managed from the Canaries, according to Spanish news source El Independiente. This expansion, described as unilateral by reliable sources, involves the establishment of military air exclusion zones and alterations to maps acknowledging Spanish oversight. The move has spurred discreet, ongoing discussions between Spain and Morocco throughout the year regarding airspace management.
