Morocco grapples with resurgent measles outbreak as vaccination rates decline

Moroccan authorities are intensifying measles vaccination efforts amid an outbreak that has seen over 25,000 cases and 120 deaths since late 2023. The resurgence, attributed to declining vaccination rates, prompted health officials to verify the immunization status of over 10 million schoolchildren since October last year. Measles, a highly contagious disease, can linger in the air for hours and spread through respiratory droplets, according to Mourad Mrabet from the National Centre for Public Health Emergencies.
