Morocco hit by record drought - faces water and crop supply shortage

Rainfall is Morocco is down by over 40 per cent compared to usual levels. In addition, water reserves have dropped to a staggering 75 per cent, while underground water levels are depleting fast.  Rain has also been extremely low this year. The national rainfall average ranged from just 31 mm to 627 mm, far below normal. It has significantly impacted crops with Morocco now buying more wheat from Russia to alleviate the impact on the food supply.
