Morocco’s butane gas imports surged in the first half of 2024, reaching 1.4 million tons, up from 2 million tons for all of 2023, according to government data. The United States accounted for 74% of these imports, solidifying its position as Morocco’s top supplier. The rising demand for butane, driven by urbanization, industrialization, and improved living standards, has heightened the country's dependence on the fuel, widely used for cooking and heating across Morocco.
